A branching watershed seen from the air

Mitigation banking

Buy a credit, and the obligation stops being yours.

Mitigation banking is increasingly the favoured approach to compensating for impacts to wetlands and streams. Federal policy has moved toward banks and away from in-lieu fee programmes and on-site mitigation, on a watershed basis.

On-site mitigation asks a developer to become an ecologist. A bank does not.

When mitigation happens on your own site, you carry the design risk, the construction risk, the monitoring obligation and the years of reporting that follow. Buying credits from an approved bank transfers all of it in a single transaction — which is precisely why regulators have come to prefer it.

01

Site location

We find degraded or converted land where restoration will produce real, durable ecological lift — and where the watershed matches the demand.

02

Design and approval

Mitigation design, construction documents and regulatory approval, taken through the Corps and state agencies.

03

Construction and planting

We manage the earthwork, the grade control, the planting and the invasive control on the ground.

04

Monitoring and guarantee

Performance monitoring and reporting to the regulators, backed by our own guarantee — the risk sits with us, not with you.
